measuring rotor thickness with ???

this is probably a dumb question, but what should i measure rotor thickness with...

a digital micrometer or a digital caliper? whats the difference between the two (if there is a difference)? how large of a tool should i buy? buy from where?

thoughts?

im buying pads soon, so i need to see if i need rotors as well.

thanks for the help

ya a micrometer would be the tool to use due to the lip however u can still use a caliper with the help of some shims (these shims would need to be precise shims, more like tooling shims).

i didnt read the description in that ebay link, but it seems that they are pretty much selling u a generic caliper with the type of shims that will allow u go around the rotor's lip. so i say yes, it should work.

also, here are a few companies that carry high quality industrial tools
Crainger, Mcmaster carr, and Production tools
