the stock wheels scrape the calipers!!!
So, i was at Brainstorm in LA today, and a red evo (GT40 is his name on here) was there. The owner was telling me about how his stock enkei's scraped the calipers on the track, b/c of some flex. This sounds to me like a warantty issue.
Hasn't happened on mine yet, but ive never been to the track.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Doesn't sound possible that it will scrap it.....Because the wheel is on a hub which goes along with the caliper as one whole unit.....
Maybe at the track a rock or debris got stuck inbetween it and scrapped it.....

im not sure, but if gt40 sees this, he'll know. its his car.
But i don't think it was a rock...it was a perfect scratch, like a like drawn from a compass...and one at least one front and one rear caliper

Both my front calipers have arcing scrapes on them, I don't think it's from the rim per say, i think stones/rocks get caught and cause the scraping. At first I thought it couldn't be because of the perfect arc and it looked like it was just emphasizing the Brembo on the caliper, but then I've got an arc going right through the written Brembo.
Warranty issue...good luck, that will be like getting a ding done under warranty after you've driven it off the lot and you parked it in the front row at the supermarket.
It's only a car, if you use it well, it should show some wear.

I can answer part of this I went with mark(gt40) and Rich that day to the track and his rims were deff scraping the caliper. We couldnt figuere why, it wasent track debris, one possibility is that he is making somewhere in the range of 400 or 450 to the wheels maybe cuasing the wheels to flex and scrape the caliper. In regards to mitsu warrenty and track ****em, they better have their lawyers ready if they think that **** is going to fly.
I have a hard time beliving a cast wheel is flexing. I mean it would probably break before it flexed.
I've heard there is very little clearance between the wheel and Caliper. If it is as small as some have described, a rock would be my first guess. By the time the car got back to the pits thre rock probably was ground down to nothing or was dislodged. Wheel flex only happens on two or three peice aluminum wheels, not a cast wheel.
One other thing it could have been, If tape weights are used on these wheels, they could come off and them get stuck like a rock and scrape before being tossed.
One word of caution, if you don't have a lot of room on the EVO wheels, make sure they put the weights as far inside, or on the outside so the weights won't scrape the caliper. (helpful hint from the tire guy online)

Well the scrape looked like the spoke did it, you would be able to tell if it was a rock but it was a big smooth scrape not just a little one. We should have look to see in the inside of the rim to see if it had paint on it but didnt think of it.
i thought i read something on this..i cant remember exactly but i think the guy had like a rock go in between the caliper and the rim..i know there was a thread about this tho.
Do you mean the caliper facing the spokes was what was rubbed? Do the brakes go that deep inside the wheel to be near the spokes?
There is no way the spokes are flexing. Like I said before they would break before flex because the are cast. And the spoke is the most ridged part of the wheel. It has more "beef" to it than even the bells of the wheel. If it isn't a rock or some debris, then the weakest link is next to look at.

Roshan, from Brainstorm, who tuned gt40's car, suggested that the calipers may swell from heat during track racing, and that heat swelling, coupled with the flex from the wheel, probably did the damage.
