Bilstein Suspension problem
Bilstein Suspension problem
Hi guys, I have a problem with one Front Bilstein suspension, bought it used from an EVO MR with 26k miles on it and installed last year. Now it generate a sound like something is loose when the car pass a bumby road, feels like something is hiting the car, I take it to the workshop they checked the suspension and there is no sign of leaking or damage, everything looks fine, so we decide to change side from left to right, now the sound is on the Right side.
What would be the problem? could be the strut mounting damage? any idea?

Sometimes blown struts look OK. Better to take off spring and test the piston compression and rebound.
Could also be the strut mount on top.

Thanks for your answer, do you think the struts is blown? How does it feel if the strut is blown? I don´t feel a lack in perfomance of the suspension

Odd noises is a general first sign. Some have them, some go straight to po-go handling. Only when really blown do you feel it DD.
Also, push on that corner of the car. Then let the car bounce back. If it bounces more than the other side, that is a good indicator too.
But I would check the mounts also. If blown, Bilsteins are rebuildable.

id like to add that the strut shaft on my bilsteins has a horrible spot of corrosion that clunks at low speed uneven surfaces. I bought the car used, and its an obvious sign of wear , lack of grease etc. you cant see this unless you have the chassis lifted off of the ground (suspension unloaded). You may need to double check the strut shafts up inside the boots, try greasing them etc.
