At what point would you need to revalve your struts when upping your spring rate?
Is a couple k higher ok to run on the same valving? I was looking into some ohlins if that helps.
Thanks

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Most coilovers are +/- 2k. But it depends on the manufacture.

^ Right, + or - 2k is the usual rule, but some coilovers have a lot more range. Ohlins is one of them.

Assuming the damping is in the correct range in the first place....

If Ive looked at the equation correctly (a little rusty on vibrations), you can find the change in the damping ratio with w2 = w1*sqrt(r1/r2) where w is the ratio and r is the rate.

Or the percentage change with just sqrt(r1/r2). So if you went from a system at ~0.65 damping ratio and 8kg/mm springs the change would be w2 = 0.65*sqrt(8/10) = 0.58.

Id say pushing much further past that is really getting passed an optimum damping force. Granted we have curve profiles to consider and adjustable dampers to compensate. But for example sake this should hold.

so if the spring rates for the ohlins were 6k front and 9k rear originally. going to a 8k front and 11k rear would be safe? how about a 9k front and 12k rear?
