R compound, winter storage

I've seen some threads and manufacturing warnings that the compound can be permanently compromised, if exposed to temps < 40f.

I have a set of track tires that are unmounted. My garage is unheated, and I expect temps below this.

Do most people bring their tires in for the winter, or does the < 40f warning only apply to tires that are in use / mounted?

thx for replies

I wrap my tires in saran wrap then put them back in their bags. I'm guessing you don't have zippered bags for yours so you can always go down to the local tire store and get some large plastic bags from them.

I don't leave mine in the garage because of the temps. Keep them out of direct sunlight if you can too.

I bag them up - in large black trash bags - and put them in my basement. Leave them there until you're ready to mount them or run them again!

Every winter I always bag them up in garden bags, then tie tightly to try to make as air tight as possible. I always store them in my heated basement, it is important not to expose them to large changes in temperature or extreme cold.

Z1's aren't R compounds, but I still store them in warmth in the winter. As far as sub 40 degree temps, I'm sure it goes below these temps over night, but I'm thinking only long term exposure to those temperatures is what's bad. So until it's consistently under 40 degrees, I use my Z1's until then. They still have plenty of grip on 40 degree days.

I'm dreading taking them off But then it's Blizzack's + snow time But if it's not snowing, the Blizzacks on dry pavement are boorrrrrring.
