D2 Coilovers

I've been thinking from changing my setup from springs to coilovers and a lot of people are running D2's. My Evo is a daily driver that I take to the drag strip quite a bit. What kind of rates are you guys running that work for the street as well as the track. I seen somewhere 8K for the front and 7k for the rear or somewhere around that. I've also seen people say the D2's arent for autocross or circuit driving. I don't want to get a coilover that Im not gonna be able to take around a corner either.

I recommend reading the threads on spring rates for why 8k front and 7k rear is not what you want.

I don't recommend the cheaper coilovers. Their valving is all over the place and rates typically just slapped in there without understanding the platform.

What is the current setup?

Hotchkis are too soft. If you wanted to stay with springs. Go with Swift SpecRs, GTWorx, or RobiSpecs. They are much stiffer (designed for AX/HPDE use).

If I remember correctly, AWD/STM have developed their own drag rates. And its why they don't advertise them.

Well I wanted to get a setup for drag. I just dont want to get a coilover thats going to be damaged if I take it around a corner.

I had D2 coilovers on my first evo and they did fine for curcuit racing! just make sure you follow the instalation guide and then i recommend you get it corner weighted, it will help alot.

Wont be damaged, just not the best around turns.

Aaron20 - the dampening is still all over the place on the D2/Megan/BCs.

I can handle that. Its prob gonna be better than my Hotchkis springs I have now and I like the way it handles. Like I was saying earlier, I drag race the car. Its never been to an autocross event or circuit raced. Just like to take it on spirited drives in the country.

He uses the D2's, but hasn't tested them in the corners
