Quote: Just trying to see what Pads you have on your car
Just keep in mind that your results are going to partially depend on where you post this thread. There are a lot of members on Evom who do track events (whether its autox, HDPE, time attack, racing) who dont visit this section all that often. Im one of those guys. I will glance through this section every now and then, but if im on Evom, im usually checking out the motorsports section the most. There are a lot of threads i dont see, or i just never bother clicking on. With that said, here is my setup. Ive been running it since around May/June of 2008. Im one of the first people who has been running this setup. And probably the first person to be racing with it:

- Girodisc 2pc rotors (front/rear)
- Raybestos ST43 pads (front/rear)

Hawk
I use the Hawk street performance pads and love them. I've had them for about 30k miles now and have had no issues.

Quote: I got news for you, don't know about the magic Pads, but the 2500's do not take heat well at all. At least not what is generated by even moderate track driving.
Thanks, I just daily drive so tracking isn't my concern. I do think drive "spirited" so anyone got something good for that?

Good rotors to go with them too?

For a street pad I suspect the 2500 would be fine. Even 'Spirited' street driving comes nowhere close to the heat load moderate track driving generates.

For a low cost street rotor, I know a lot of people run the Centric premium blanks with good results. I still put on my OEM rotors for street, but I'll pick up a set of Centrics for street when these need replacing.

I like the Porterfield R4S as a street/autox pad. Very similar to the Ferodo's but a bit cheaper.

Centric blanks are great. Very inexpensive and decent quality. I've had a set on the car for 30k+ & 40-50 autocrosses and they are still straight.

I'm running the EBC Redstuff pads all around. My car is a daily driver and part-time autocrosser, and these pads work really well for both scenarios. First hard stop with the pads felt like I hit a brick wall lol

Anyone using StopTech street performance pads? I'll be DD mostly but I am planning on doing some autox and maybe a couple track days. Currently using stock Brembos.

Currently PF-Z pads for aggressive street and previous autoX events. Going to something more aggressive as they aren't up to the road course duty or power the car is making. Have been good pads the last 2yrs though.

Quote: Jeff,

Porterfield R4S gets my vote for a street pad. Lots of life, no noise, easy to modulate, good bite and they last awhile. Got 30k and 40-50 autox's (at least) out my last fronts. Rears are still in.

Might have to look into the ST43's next year. Want to get a track day or two in.

John
I too have been running the Porterfield street pads, but honestly I don't feel the initial bite is great. I am pushing a lot more power than stock now and would like a pad that can take at least 5-8 75mph + to 0 stops without fade, great initial bite, and does not squeal like a racing brake - basically like a 911 turbo .

My car is 100% street car, but I like to drive it. I have focused on the power for a while, now it is time to focus on the brakes . I have a set of dba 2 piece rotors waiting to go onto the car and want to find a great street pad to compliment the setup.

Recommendations so far have been EBC Red and GS5s. Thoughts ?
