Outer Tie Rod

So one of my outer tie rods for some reason is missing a chunk and the boot is torn. I'm looking at replacements does it really matter which one? I noticed there was quit the difference in price ranging from $10-40
Thanks!

I prefer Moog. I used them in the past with the Evo when my outer went.

FYI.. I went through this all but a couple months ago.. OReillys, Autozone, Advance AutoParts and NAPA, ALL have wrong listings for the Evo... After buying the WRONG ones due to their bad listings, I brought in the old one to match it up..

All of the ones their systems show is the same for the Lancer as it is for the Evo, but they are not the same (Evo one is bulkier, larger end, larger thread, etc.) And are not interchangable. For the price of theirs, I ended up buying one from a dealer for $3x.xx, Just a friendly FYI, because it was enough to realize that each of them were pulling from a similar data source on the backside of their part find servers...

Yeah, this is something I discovered years ago. Some company is in the business of creating the parts list that many (maybe all) of the parts houses then subscribe too. So, if the wrong part goes in the list, everybody is wrong. Even more frustrating is that the errors never seem to get corrected.

Mid year, back in the third year DSMs were being built, Mitsu decided to go with a smaller oil filter. So first you had to know the build date of the car. Second, every oil filter guide had it backwards - going from small oil filter to large. Finally, there was no reason for the change in the first place. Whatever Mitsu needed clearance for by going to the smaller filter never got put on the car. Talk about confusion!!!!!

you might be able to just buy a new boot....

and as far as getting wrong part goes i had trouble getting things from time to time you can take OEM part number and they can cross reference from that to get the right part.
