Advan vs. Snow

seeing that the northeast got dump with 2 feet of snow last weekend, just wondering if anyone is still on their stock tires. my evo has been sitting in my driveway for about 2 weeks now (commute to work and 2 other rides) and i'm dying to take it out but wanted to know how the stock tires hold up against the snow.

stay out of boost and you will be fine. The stock tires are not that bad like very one says, to me they are alot better than my 300zx i was force to drive last winter.

They have trouble stopping and turning. Otherwise, they're great!

EVOMiz, remember your Z was a RWD, thats wh yits harder to drive. The EVO is ok in the snow, as lonf as you dont gas erraticly. I jsut leave my car in first gear and let it roll.

There have been a few threads about this in the last couple of weeks. The consensus is that AO46's are horrible in the snow. Personally, I had a treacherous drive through the Adirondacks in light snow and slight frost. I switched to dedicated snows the next day.

With the AO46's, you can get the car rolling, but stopping and turning are severely compromised. A few people on this board have already banged up wheels and bent tie rods, etc. when they understeered into curbs. I wouldn't take a chance.

Did you notice that warning sticker on the inside of the driver's door?? That's there for a reason ya know.

The Advan's because of the compound they are made with aren't supposed to be ran under a certain temperature...I'm thinking it's something like 42 degrees.

yes, they are BAD! can't stop and zero grip in snow. I'm looking into getting snow tires for this season since it looks like boston will get much more snow this year....
