stock struts with lowering springs?

I was looking into lowering my evo bc I dont like how high the front end sits compared to the back. I know its a "handling" set-up but I dont like how noticable it is. I was looking into coilovers but I dont want to spend $1500 on them right now. I seen the tein s-tech springs (I believe) lower the front 2'' and the rear .9''.. Are the stock struts on the evo strong enough for this spring rate? If not what's a decent upgrade in shocks? I appreciate in insight

Search and read. Tein S Tech are too low and too soft.

Proper springs that will work with the OEM struts:
Swift Sports
Swift SpecRs
GTWorx
RobiSpec

Used Bilstein MRs - $400
Used KYBs - $150-250
New Bilstein HDs - $750

Springs - $150 used to $300 new.

Just because the D2s are cheap doesn't mean they are great.

I bought my 03 from a dealer and the previous owner had gf210 tanabe spring all around on stock struts.. after two years on virginia roads the front passenger side just blew out... if im changing out stock struts might as well put some decent springs on..

I was just looking into those. I might have to do a little searching on them. Do you happen to have a pic of your car with them springs on?

How tired do you get of writing the same basic posts over and over?

There's some amazing info on EvoM that you just won't find anywhere else, do some searching and reading for a while first. I had some **** brand lowering springs on my KYB's and after reading info on here I replaced them with slightly used MR Bilsteins, my car feels a world apart, for DD it's down right perfect. I actually prefer the look of the car as well, I never did feel comfortable about myself driving around in a "slammed" Evo anyway.

Cheers Smike

03 LY on Tanabe gf210 and stock struts.. overall ride isnt bad at all.. sits a little higher than the stechs and not quite as bouncy and no camber issues... i used to have tien stechs on my dsm with koni yellows... the camber was rediculous...

1 - They are pretty cheap
2 - They give you that "show quality slammed look"
3 - They don't know any better (well not until they blow a strut)

I guess to each his own
