First off, I hate knock-offs and replicas. I have never bought or supported any Rotas or Varrostens.

I wouldn't be surprised if those "real" Weds cracked too. Forged wheels are not made for impact whatsoever. They're just made to be light. I've hit a big *** pothole last season on a set of Work VS-XX and it bent my wheel. Before that, I was in a 15 MPH head on collision causing my TE37's to split in half.

After that, I've never trusted the principle of JDM wheels being any stronger than what we have in the market today.

I truthfully buy them for the bling factor.

thank god some one thinks the same way I do.. Jebus people do you have any real knowledge to back up your claims or are you just going to blindly follow like everyone else.... Rotas work just as well as any 3k plus wheels for street/ mild track use...

First truthful person. The whole Rota's break crap is stupid. They are just as liable to break as some the same beloved JDM companies we support.

I like JDM **** as well which is why I bought some work wheels. I didn't need them but I wanted a little JDM label ***** for the ride.

It'd be great if you knew how to spell propaganda in the first place...

Again please look carefully at 2:58 in the video...the business philosophies between the two places that the wheels are manufactured are completely different. Where one focuses on quality the other cuts costs as low as possible in order to sell the wheel for extremely cheap. the quality of engineering simply is not there. All I know is that I would never purchase or install counterfeit parts on my evo. There are plenty of reputable companies that offer excellent wheels at an affordable price.

So you're saying that Volk, Weds, BBS, and all the other "quality" wheel companies use the same quality materials, and processing as your "beloved" ROTA? Do you think that ROTA has engineers simulating the stresses of a wheel? I think...well...I know not.

I have nothing against ROTAs, because I know there's no way that I can afford 5000 for RE30s or TE37, and would probably run them on a daily. But, at no point would I front and say that there is NO difference

Hmm, it looks like ROTA uses a very similar machine to impact test their wheels as the weds video.

Are you serious? this video is so biased and stupid it's retarded. A funny sounding man, comes on a video with a no name wheel and their wheel name BLASTED all over the video basically say," other wheel bad, buy our awesome wheel, our wheel awesome" ...

be smart people, you have no idea where this wheel came from, who made it, or how real this video even is...

If I was a major wheel company loosing large amounts of net profit due to cheaper wheels being sold, Id prob do the same thing...

sure the real wheel is probably going to be stronger.....but really how much force was required to break the "fake" wheel. how much stronger is the real thing and is it worth the price difference?

I hate spending money on rims and that's why I have stuck with my OEM bbs lol

This forum makes me laugh anymore. Knock offs obviously have their place so to speak but, for people to think they are automatically just as good as a high quality original part because they look the same is asinine.

Having worked in professional motorsports for over 10 years I can tell you the devil truly is in the details when you are trying to get the most out of a part. Truth be told I don't think half of the "real" aftermarket companies are even very good at that. I'm willing to bet the knock off companies are even worse at it though, because they haven't gained the knowledge of what works and doesn't that the OEMs do in the design and testing process. They just want to make it look like the part.

Is the video biased? Sure. Wouldn't you be speaking up if someone was trying to copy something you worked hard on and rob you of potential income from it? I know I would.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Here's a good read for those who like to educate themselves. I'm sure some of you will call bs anyway:

If ROTA does this kind of research on each of the "their" wheels, then I have no idea how they get them so cheap.
