It's just a weight being dropped on the wheel. If it acts differently it has to do with the wheel it's impacting. The most likely reason it didn't rebound on the imitation wheel is because the wheel broke and therefore didn't have energy to transfer back into the weight, where the weds did not break and could spring back against the weight.

I remember seeing ads for Rotas way back in the day (probably in 2001, mainly in SCC, when it used to be thick like an encyclopedia) and their market were Acuras/Hondas.

At that time, I'm sure their R&D and quality control was suspect, but they have sold many wheels over the years and it appears they have re-invested those profits into better technology and quality control (clearly not in wheel design though).

While nobody really knows how strong Rotas are compared to a name brand wheel, considering how many Acuras/Hondas/Subarus/Evos have put a good amount of miles on Rota wheels, it appears they are strong enough for most daily driving tasks.

Personally, I would never buy Rotas as as I prefer the known quality/reputation of a name brand wheel, and I hate that Rota clearly copies wheel designs.

Though I breifly thought about buying a set of Linea Corsas as secondary wheels........Shame on me!

Weds are fairly inexpensive (1500-2000) for an 18" set. It's all about the research, design, testing, and lightweight that's makes these much better than replicas. You don't have to spend 3-4k for a nice "real" set of jdm wheels, works is another inexpensive quality wheel company.

Replicas have never been as good as the real company in any market, ie... Golf equipment, sunglasses, your gf's purse, jewelry, etc... Support the companies doing the real research, not the companies simply copying designs to undercut, just to make a profit

With that said, Rota had a good reputation for a decent quality product but they are heavier than the real deal.

Thats alot of money to spend on some cast wheels to some. You're talking about 2 times more then what the average prson can get a "quality" :P Rota for. They are 950 shipped. Still not making a good case for people who don't want to spend the money.

It's all relative, $1500 is "fairly" inexpensive compared to other real jdm wheels such as volks and advans. The Evo was also a 25-30k car new so %5-10 of the total price on a nice lightweight wheel is justified to me. I guess when you buy one at 10-12k it's harder to pay that but why put on a heavier wheel then what came stock on the car?

Why support a company who "stole" a design that was already designed by a very reputable company? Doesn't make sense to me.
