Ongoing Squeaky Brakes

After the original pads went in my car, I installed cheap Auto Zone pads, because I didn't know any better and they've squeaked whenever coming to a stop. So I changed out the front setup with Powerslot slotted rotors and Hawk HP+ pads. I did the proper break-in with them. After they were cooled down, I went for a drive and on my way home, my brakes were doing the same obnoxious squeaking as I would come to a stop. I followed the How To guide of how to change the brakes from EvoM, and i'm out of ideas.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong here.

Alright. I hope it's that simple. I'll be picking up a can tomorrow.

I have Hawk HPS and it squeaked like hell. After 3 weeks, the squeaks went away so it'll take some time before the squeaks go away.

Well after spraying the calipers with brake and parts cleaner, the problem persists. I'm fed up with this. I scheduled my car to go to the shop on friday and i'll see what they have to say about it.

Not only is the problem the same and ongoing, but it's a lot louder now with these pads.

....You bought performance brake pads for the street, what did you expect? The cheapo Auto Zone ones squeak because they needed time to break in. My HPS squeaked LOUD too and it took a few weeks before it finally completely went away. If you give it some time and do the proper break-in procedure once a day, it'll go away. Do A LOT of hard braking for a while. You can't just glaze the brakes over and over and expect it to stop squeaking.

This might also help your squeaking problem.

I am not a guru when it comes to picking out brake pads. I was told by an Evo/DSM shop that these are great pads to use, with little to no noise...

^ The shop was wrong. HP+ are some of the noisiest pads you can buy for the Evo. I know, I used to run them. I used to also run Hawk HPS pads, which were quiet, but ultimately I didn't care for how they held up in the long run (lost bite as they got older). Currently I'm running PFC Z compounds, which so far are doing fine ... they only squeak a little when I get them hot, otherwise they're quiet and perform well.

I ran Ferudo (sp?) ds2500's on my old STi, front and rear, and they were amazing. But, I didn't want to shell out $230 for a set of pads again.

I've been more agressive with break-in, and they seem to be fine for now. No noise. That could change, but I got them to shut the hell up for now.

My car's still being dropped off at the shop, but only to get the AC fixed, not the brakes.

HP+ are performance pads that are made for autox and light track duty while being a street pad. they will squeal once in a while because they're fairly agressive
