Why carry a spare?

Whats the use of having a spare tire if you have bigger aftermarket rims on? and if you do get a blow out and use your spare, wouldn't it destroy your drivetrain?
Being there's around an inch difference I'm thinking about doing some weight reduction

Would the drivetrain get wrecked or would the spare just slip and spin?

going a short distance isn't going to kill anything, but with the number of insurance companies that offer roadside assistance now it's near-pointless

if youre going on a long trip and going to be in the middle of nowhere at times, id carry the spare, otherwise it's near useless

cause it won't do damage for a short distance not ment to be driven on for that long if it would have cause damage in short distance they would have put a full size spare in the trunk

A new spare wheel from mitsu is like 260$ then tire from tirerack was like 170$ or something ridiculous, just thought I'd share that information

For those times that the tire is repairable just carry a tire plug kit and a portable air pump. A lot of times, but not every time, the tire will be repairable when you get a flat. The tire kit with a pump is also very lightweight.

It's also law to carry one in NZ. I'm assuming it's not in the states.

As far as I know, it is not a law here in the states.

Rolling diameter is what makes the difference. I'm sure when you got your +1 size wheels with correct sized tires you took into account correct rolling diameter. The spare was made to get you to a place to fix your tire not to drive around like a regular tire.
