Bilstein re valve thread

So I've done some searching and haven't found many solid answers. Basically I'm getting a pair of used MR bilsteins and I want to get them re valved for a set of Swift Spec R's.
Who should I send them to?
What should I ask for?
Do I just give max rates, or do I ask for specific things like more low speed compression? Also if I send them to bilstein directly, is there a specific person I should ask to talk to? I would appreciate if people who have done this before can chime in. Also please post of PM me how much it cost you in total.
Thanks in advance

Much of the info you're looking for is found right on their website:

http://www.bilsteinus.com/products/s...e/service.html

Put the shocks in a box with a completed form u print off on their site stating what u want done. I had bilstein revalve my shocks to match the GTWorx springs. I just wrote down the spring rates, & they did the rest. 2-3 weeks later I got the shocks back (one of my front shocks needed a new piston machined, so it took a little bit longer than usual..)

I know where to send mine but l need new bump stops and the spring seat brushing. Can I add on the form to replace them, do they just replace them, or do I need to find new ones? Where can I get them?

I actually asked Andrew from GTWorx/RCE this question a few days ago and he said having the Bilsteins revalved at 65% critical damping with extra low-speed compression is a good idea. I had my Bilsteins revalved back in September, matched to the spring rates of my GTWorx springs. Over rough roads, it doesn't feel good at all, seems like there's too much rebound and not enough compression, but its not like I'm in mid-air after going over a bump or two . When I get them revalved again, I'll be sure to ask for the extra low-speed compression and 65% critical damping. BTW, it cost me ~$380 shipped to get them revalved. This wouldn't include any additional parts they have to repair/replaced.

thanks for the reply, most of this I know already. I am mainly curious about specific specs to ask for and if there are any other ( better ) places to have them re valved. Were you happy with the results vs. stock?

Beautiful! this is the type of thing I want to hear about. Hmmm would these specs be good for the spec R's as well?

Not sure about the Spec-Rs, that would be a question for Andrew to answer, I think. The good thing about having the Bilsteins revalved to the springs is that the car handles really well now; turn-in and steering response are awesome. During my first autocross with the revalved Bilsteins, I hit like 8 cones on the first run because I wasn't used to how the car handled . I was turning in earlier, like I would with the car on stock KYBs, and ended up murdering quite a few cones lol

Also, there's a lot of good information in this thread regarding revalved Bilsteins - https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...revalve-2.html

These some of the other companies I Know of :
1. Feal suspension ( liked by NASIOC ) http://odib.web.officelive.com/EvoDa...dePackage.aspx

2. Stewart Development http://stewartdevelopment.com/

3. Fat Cat Motorsports http://www.fatcatmotorsports.com/ BUT they quoted me $200 a corner, so they're out of the question

My reason for looking at other options is that I've heard that sometimes Bilstein's re valves are sometimes less than optimal and they don't necessarily completely follow your requests. I don't know how much truth there is to that but thats why I am asking for feedback.

$200 per corner is pretty steep, I think that would be as expensive as a new set of Bilstein HDs

As for Bilstein's revalves, I heard the same thing; the revalve depends on who's doing it. IMO, they went super aggressive on my set of Bilsteins; it does not take up road imperfections well. I DD my Evo as well as autocross it, so ride quality is fairly important to me. Now, they make the car handle very well, and the ride is really good over smooth roads, its just when the road gets bumpy the car gets upset. After living with this setup for 6 months or so, I think my stock KYBs were better over rough roads

Hopefully this changes whenever I send in my Bilsteins for another revalve, this time with the specs I mentioned

You're not going to get better advice than you can find here.
