Strut question

Ok so a WHILE back i got a set of struts and Tien springs installed on my car, recently (yesterday) i blew the driver side front strut and decided to run to the parts store to replace it. To my surprise the part I received was WAY smaller than what i have on my car SO........... question

Are Evo 8 and IXs front strut the same size?

Are all Bilsteins Yellow?

Is it possible that I have KYBs if so who sells them? The only kyb im finding are for the lancer models. Would that fit?

Did they give me the wrong part? (Spring is too big, wont fit in the base)

You knowledge will be appreciated

The dampers from the 8 and 9 should be the same size as they are interchangeable, and all Bilstein MR dampers are yellow. The KYBs are usually black with a yellow stripe near the bottom. Hope that helps.

they gave you regular lancer parts. you can not get any struts for an evo at any parts store. only ones you can get are oem kyb's and mr bilsteins from the dealer, or bilstein hd's from a few sources.

Tein springs? Prepare to be replacing struts often. They are too low and too soft.

Oh wait...you already blew one...seriously. They are that bad. Go back to OEM or Swift/Robi/GTWorx.

You have a Lancer strut. Evo OEM are $400-600ea at a dealer. KYB used $400 for a set with low miles (hard to find now). MR Bilsteins used are $450-500 (also hard to find). HD Bilsteins are $800 (new) and on back order.

LOL @ you.

Yes, you do. What do you they blew the strut? And if its not your everyday car then 2.5 years means ****. Its just physics and some science. Too low and too soft. Your struts valving was beaten into the housing.

Hey, I'm just a guy (scientist/engineer) that did work on this chassis. If you like the level f medication you're on - stick with the dosage.
