I wish I knew 8K wouldn't have been enough before I bought the coil overs. I haven't even had them a year yet. What spring rate do you all think I should run? It's currently 8K front & 9K back.

10k/12k seems popular.

After trying so many things and further understanding the evo beyond just balancing motion ratios, Im now suggesting 12k/12k, stock front sway bar or cusco brackets set stiff and big rear for a street tire setup. The car Im working on with 265 Toyo R1-Rs could probably stand to go to 14ks but that gets a bit rough on the street even for ohlins.

I know this is a bit more controversial to some but most that will tell you to run 10k/12k, 8k/10k, 12k/16k, etc., are regurgitating what people one this board like myself have told them. Its a newer theory that people are starting to understand but not willing to really explain. Spend enough time on here listening to the right people and you'll eventually put it together

How much stiffer will my ride feel with the 12K all around? I'm fine with how the 8/9 feels, will it be that much of a big difference?

It's definitely a noticeable difference. Ur gonna feel every lil grain of sand on the road... Nah jk but it's pretty stiff, but seriously the evo is heavy as is. U will feel the road changes, as in bumps or drops. It will feel amazing in the corners. I couldn't be happier going to the stiffer springs. I'm currently at 10/12 on ohlins set at almost full stiff daily

Been following this thread as it applies to my current situation as well. Only big difference is, I drag race as much as I autox, so I don't want to overdue my spring change too much and ruin my launch. On apexi n1's, out of the box, which are very soft. On the street they feel like my stock MR suspension.

Anyone else dag as well as autox? If 12k/12k is optimal for autox, i'm thinking of meeting in the middle with like a 10k front, 11k rear, or even 10k rear since I want the car to squat during the launch.

Sorry to hijack, but I'd appreciate anyone's input who has experience on the matter. I'm just getting into suspension modifications...

I had buddy club Racing Specs 10k/10k on my old EVO IX MR and they felt really good. Not a lot of body roll at all, but they were too much spring for the Falken Azenis RT-615 tires too. They did great at autocross, but would have done better with an R-S3 (if they existed back then) or even a slick. I switched to Fortune Auto 500 coilovers with 10k/12k setup, and had the car corner balanced and that helped the car to rotate much better, and again body roll wasn't really an issue. I only raced with this setup once before I sold the car, this time on NT05's and they performed really well. When I decide to upgrade suspension on the EVO IX MR I have now, I don't know if I'll go with FA's again, but I'll definitely stay with the 10k/12k setup if not 12k/14k

I just don't wanna go 10K in the front and still have roll issues then have to change again.. Any other opinions?

you guys know how much you can increase the spring rate before you really need to get it revalved? I'm using all the data in this thread to pick my next spring rates, but I'm thinking my dampening might need a change as well, if I am going to double the spring rate, or nearly double it.
