Squeaking Strut

Just like the title says, My driver side rear strut is making an awful squeaking noise, over rolling bumps, and mostly when a lot of load is applied, ie: around a left turn. They are KYB SR Specials, and I am just wondering if there is anything that can be done as in parts being replaced, or strut being rebuilt, or if I have to replace it, is it ok to replace one strut, even if it were a different brand/kind, or would I be better off replacing all 4? I dont have the money for all 4 at the moment, this I my reason for asking.

I initially thought it to be the bushings, but on closer inspection, it is without question the strut. What on the strut would be causing a squeak anyway?

see if the tube of the strut is hitting anything causing the squeak...it still sounds like bushings though or the plate on top

I had a KYB strut go bad. In summer it squeaked. I had to drive some before the noise would start. In winter, when the streets were snow packed and if I hit a hole in the snow, there would be a loud bang from that side and it felt like the strut had gone super stiff.

I called KYB customer service and the person I spoke with suggested a valve inside the strut had broken. The strut didn't leak and I hadn't hit anything on that side. Replacement fixed the problem.

Yeah, mine only seems to squeak on really hot days, or after driving for a while. Did you replace all four or just the one? if you just replaced the one, was it with the same strut as the other 3, or totally different?

I did check and lubricate all bushings, but if you sat right beside the rear wheel and got someone to bounce the car, there is no question the noise is coming from the strut itself. I did also try to lubricate the strut mount, and even the strut tube, but nothing makes it stop, so I was thinking it must be internal if that is possible

My problem was at passenger side front. One day it decided to make noise parked in the garage and I was able to check around with an engine stethoscope. The noise source was the strut itself. Kinda a groan vibration sound.

A board member was selling all four corners with stock springs so the fix amounted to swapping the entire assembly for one with much less mileage.
