Need help with offset, anyone with experience willing to help?

hey , i have a 03 evo , i run 17x9 +22 now all the way around without pull or spacers or rolling.

im buying a certain wheels that can be made any offset i want as i do not want to run spacers. the setup is 18x10.5 all around and i need to know what is the perfect offset to make them fit as i said before i can have them made any offset i need including different from front to back, im going to pull and roll this time around but im looking to run a 295/30/18 ....this is not a show car , and i do not want to add widebody pc's...id prefer to play with the factory metal some.... this car will be road raced but will also be driven on the street from now and then... im not looking to "tuck" tire or "stance" either. im merely looking to have the widest contact with pavement as possible .

please no smartass comments

please no comments unless you have an answer to my ? , thanks in advance

If you can, make contact w/ R/TErnie. He runs the large rubber

Look at page 3 of his build thread showing some of the suspension mods needed to run rubber larger than 275

Your offset will be on the high side +38 or so.

Your definitely dabbling into the dark side of running wide tires.

Unless you run a staggered offset, I don't believe there are any wheels that allows for that width, run a respectable sized tire, and still fit the front and rear on this chassis. On R/T's setup, he runs spacers in front and custom lower control arms in the rear. On any lower offset that will fit the front without spacers, and also get rear inboard clearance, you then have to worry about rear outboard clearance. There has to be a compromise somewhere.

My car with R/T's old setup is 285 A6s on 18x10et38 RPF1s with a 20mm spacer up front. It required a fairly large pull up front to fit but was still easy enough for the guy who rolled it for me.

Front limitation for fitting inward is the Caliper, so your offset there will really depend on that. I can drop down to 17mm but thats the limit for these wheels.

Rear limitation is the trailing link. I have one of R/T's arm sets and have plenty of room. Without his arms, I would need a 3-5mm spacer to reduce/prevent rubbing.

If you are going the custom CCW route, R/T would be the guy to talk to since he is running I beleive the exact setup you're looking to run (295s on a 10.5).

As i said. I dont mind running staggard offset . As i will be having the wheels custom made . I can have ANY offset i need.

I just need to know what offsets front and back will work without spacers. If i need to run a 285 or 275 then i will. But i prefer a 295

the reason for not running staggered offset would just be so that you can rotate the wheels. if you don't care about that, then there's no reason to not run a staggered offset (i.e. it's a track car or something)

18x10.5+40 with 295/30/18 I believe is what he is currently running.

Up front you will need a spacer +15-20mm. Up front, your limitations will be the outer fender (with the spacer) and the tire rubbing on the back of the wheel well. Getting a PSRS will push the wheel forward and using a EvoDave like fender spacer will get the clearance needed. Caster adjustable plates will also allow you to dial in the rub on the wheel well up front.

As for the rear, I currently run 18x9.5+35 with 285/30/18 and they rub with a pretty solid roll. I would probably need a 3mm pull to prevent rubbing. You will need the custom rear trailing arm and may have to shave/relocate the rear bumper bolt.

personally I strongly prefer to run the same wheel on all 4 corners with spacers up front. when we had different front and rear wheels it was a royal PITA dismounting/mounting tires to rotate them (which the evo needs frequently because it is so nose heavy).

that said I run a 285 hoosier on 18x10.5+30 (25mm spacer up front) with stock rear trailing arms and body but rolled and pretty heavily pulled front/rear fenders, relocated rear bumper bolt, etc.

you can go to full murder on the rear fenders and fit an 18x10.5+15. you could also get replacement trailing arms and run a wheel with less offset depending on your rear spring clearance. if you're stuck on a 10.5 you could run somewhere in the +40 offset to reduce the amount of rear fender pulling.
