10mm spacer and wheel studs
10mm spacer and wheel studs
Whats up guys i have a noob question and i needed clarification. Im planning on getting spacers cause the advan rs rims i just picked up dont clear the front calipers. I was planning on getting either a 5mm or 10mm spacer. I know that i wont need different wheel studs for the 5mm but will i need wheel studs if i get 10mm spacers? Any help would be appreciated
IMO, it is ok to run the stock studs for 5mm spacers for street use only. If you track the car, then you need to get longer studs, ditto for a 10mm spacer. They're really not that expensive and worth the peace-of-mind.

Youre going to want at least 5 full turns on the lug for the bolt to have full holding capacity. Pull off the wheel, measure out 10mm and count how many turns you have left. Or measure the whole stud and subtract 8mm, thats as big as you can go.
Edit: Oops, forgot about the wheel thickness.. You can count lug turns on the wheel alone, then subtract 5 and multiply by 1.5 (the pitch). That should get you in the ballpark.

the car is my dd its not going on the track. The wheel specs are 18x9 +30 and the tires 245/40/18. i figure i should just got bigger, maybe to 15mm and just put in longer studs but im afraid it'll look funny when compared to the rear wheels. Would guys recommend putting spacers in the back as well if i go up to 15mm?
I used to have some 10mm spacers I ran with my stock wheels to push them out a bit and I ended up switching to longer studs just to be safe.
If you go bigger than 10mm bolt on would be a good option. To fit my current wheels I needed a 20mm spacer and went with a bolt on application which I liked better than the longer wheel studs method.
This is 17x9.5+38 with 20mm spacer in the front, same 17x9.5+38 in the back with 245/40/17 ZII's on it used for auto-x:

Advan did not offer the RS in a +30mm offset.. 18x9 is available in either a +35mm or a +29mm GTR Face offset, which should not require spacers to clear the Brembo's. Unless you're trying to get the wheels to poke out from the fenders, I'd put the extra money towards buying better tires.
OP:
you shouldn't require spacers if you have either sets of those advans (+29 or +35)
the rota gforce (advan rs replica) do come in 18x9+30 though if you are talking about those. i'm not sure about the fitment on rotas though
