why not go the Endless route, instead of mixing and matching...?

do you guys think that a ceramic rotor for the evo would sell?

that sounds a little good to be true, but ****, you never know. anyone here know about ceramic disks?

man. if i never had to buy another rotor and i couldn't ruin it i think id consider investing.

what do you guys think about quality/longevity vs. pricing?

I believe it was ATS that had them for the Honda Integra Type R... didn't sell many cause they were stupid expensive...

$24,000 brake disks on the Enzo are enough to make me think they wouldn't sell very well.. You'd figure with rotors that should last forever they pads on the Enzo wouldn't also be crazy expensive, but $6,000! Each component on that car must be personally blessed by every suit at Ferrari and the pope.

Porsche is also offering ceramic brakes now, and for less money than the Enzo. Ceramic brakes may make their way to us mere mortals, but it'll be a long ways off.

I think it was somewhere between $4k-$6k for rotors and pads just for the front of the R... so figure about $6k for the front of an Evo. Just a guess by the way...

$6K will barely (if even) cover an Endless 6-piston front conversion. To convert to 6-piston fronts (plus bigger rotors and 18" wheels a must) and 4-piston rears with 2-piece rotors front and back, figure about $10K...

Hey, I said it was a guess (which after checking the site is $4k for two front rotors and pads http://a-t-s-usa.com/ats-products/at...n-brakes.shtml)... referring to the R kit which at the time, there was no "rear kit" offered. The Endless 6-piston set up is horribly over priced as is most of the "name brand" products out there for Japanese performance cars (I think Buschur has proved that). Esp. when you think about what you can do with stuff like Wilwood calipers and rotors, along with custom "dog bones" and lines to bolt them on.

Now you might argue who would want to fab a race brake kit when you can "order" one? Well first and foremost, who would put an overkill race brake kit on a street car anyway?

This, of course, was all spawned by the questions on carbon/ceramic rotors... I'm sure that if one looked deep enough, one could find an ATS set up for the Evo if your willing to pay...

Zeus, I agree with you completely about the overkill. That is why I didn't go for a full-on brake upgrade. I figured the weak points (not in ability, but in endurance) were the rotors, pads, lines and fluid. Hence, those are the parts I am upgrading. If anything, my Evo will get lighter, not heavier, so these brakes should be plenty. I tried to find an AP Racing or Alcon setup, but none fit. The only place I've seen an Alcon setup for the Evo was in the UK. As for Wilwood, I think for the price those are the best brakes you can buy. No wonder so many SCCA racers use them.

a little birdy told me the ceramic rotors could be as cheap as 1k each.

what if that came to be?

For the record the Endless 6 piston 370x32 front and 4 piston 332x20 rear racing brake kit sells for under 7K retail complete with lines, pads, brackets. AP has been making brake kits for the EVO in Japan for years. Brembo has upgraded kits also. Seen a 8 piston setup .

That's news to me... Good news, but still I hadn't heard that. I know who to talk to now...
