Brake Squeak When Turning
Brake Squeak When Turning
I know, I know... another thread about brake squeak! Please, bare with me on this as I can't find any other threads with this particular problem.
I just installed a brand new pair of Hawk HPS street pads, which I'm in love with... the stopping power has been giving me wetdreams. Although, I have been left with a major problem. So, the issue is I have very little to no squeak when stopping in a straight line. This, however changes drastically whenever I turn the wheel coming up to a turn, or light braking around a slight curve. Are there any indications of what this might be? My only guess is the pistons are pressing unevenly and it might just be something I have to live with (even though I really don't want too) -- Tomorrow I'm going to take off my calipers to spray them with my air compressor and add more grease to the shims. I'd like to add that I also just had the rotors (which are slotted, not sure if that matters) turned about a month ago, when I had the old pads on.
Is there anyone else with a similar problem that has a solution? Again, I apologize because I know this topic has been beaten into the dirt, I'm just at my wits end with this issue.

Check you wheel bearings for play. A slight wobbly bearing will allow the rotor to move slightly in the caliper and allow slight contact with the pad, causing noise. To test, put both hands on the top of your wheel and try to rock the wheel side to side. If you feel any play, your wheel bearing is warn. Good luck man
Hey, thanks for the advice man!! I just ended up tearing my front brake calipers apart, cleaning them, then got anti-sieze and put it in the corners where the pads come in contact with the caliper. I also installed freshly turned rotors and did not bed them in this time around (I've never bedded in pads, till the Hawks... and I've never had any issues in the past)... so far so good. I've been driving for about three days now without an ounce of noise. My best guess is the calipers were extremely clogged and didn't want to move correctly.
