Finally someone tried the Konig Torch 17x9.5 ET35

After searching for another 17x9/9.5 option other than the NT03 I came across the Konig Torch in 17x9.5 +35.

I had emailed Konig a while back and they said it would clear the brembo brakes. I came across this photo this morning on the Konig Facebook page today and it rekindled that fire and now I want some new shoes for the race car.

Discounttiredirect.com has them in stock at $620 for the set shipped makes it hard not to buy them. I see cars at the track all the time that have not had any issues with them.

Just found this

"On the 17 x 9.5 ET15 wheel for example, the overall weight comes in at around 22.1 pounds." at http://blog.frsport.com/2013/07/02/k...ts-at-frsport/

22.1 pounds isn't exactly light but its not terrible. For reference, a RPF1 17x9.5 et 18 is 16.75.

For $620 shipped, this is an awesome deal that I will be taking advantage of. That being said the weight gain of 2lbs (over the 17x9.5 NT03) it is not worth the extra $5xx price tag. With that in mind I can get a wheel and tire package from DTD delivered to my door for free, with free mounting and balancing. I am going with the proven Hankook r-s3 which is 1lb lighter than the Z2 or r888.

Taking that thought a step further, if I decided to deal with mounting the tires on my own and get BFG Rivals which are 2lbs lighter than the Z2/r888, I will have made up that weight savings over the NT03 and would still be $5xx ahead of the game with an identical wheel/tire package weight.

It will be nice to not have to deal with loading up my EVO with 4 wheel/4 tires to a tire place in hopes that they will not destroy my wheels and charge me out the ***. DTD and Konig get my vote.

What are the tire sizes and weights you want to run with those wheels?

Nitto NT01 - 255/40/17 are 26.4lbs per tire.

I will be running 245 40 17 as per SCCA STU rules. The Hankook R-S3 according to tire rack is 25lbs.

All around good find, thanks for sharing.

Other than weight, what else has to be sacrificed at that price?

No problem, I know there is a lack of wheels in the 17x9.5 department for us so I figured i'd share. In my research I have found nothing negative about this wheel, seems to have a cult following in the 240sx community.

Yeah this is definitely a good find. Now I just need to find a cheap 17x10 alternative for the RPF1 before I spend all my money.

Not sure, it's in the "install kit" from discount tire direct. I can ask them when I place the order

245 on a 9.5" wide rim? isn't that a bit too much tire stretch for optimal traction? why not run a 9" rim (or even 8.5")?

I was considering these wheels yesterday until I started reading some really negative threads regarding the overall quality of Konig wheels. Konig has been around a while and I had heard of them so I thought it might be okay to pick-up a set of these. The nice thing is that if you destroy a wheel, they're not even $200 to replace.

I'm going to pay the extra $100 per wheel and get the NT03s. I'll also save 2 lbs. per corner and that's nothing to sneeze at.
