Is this space between my wheel and caliper safe?
Is this space between my wheel and caliper safe?
Wondering if you guys ever experienced any problems with wheels running a little close to the caliper? I don't have any spacers on but I will have some soon after looking at this.
But would you consider this safe to drive with such a small clearance?
Thanks for your help!

looks to be about 3-4mm maybe. Ive seen worse, a guy I know had a sheet of paper(construction paper) as his clearance. I think you should be good, as nothing moves when breaks are applied and wheels are torqued properly...
wheels are torqued to 85ft lbs, and I've driven it probably 20 miles without issue. I don't think I'll be doing any spirited driving until I put some spacers on.
A sheet of construction paper? Holy cow thats crazy.

Its not like the caliper os gonna move closer to the wheel when everything is mounted on. You will be fine. At my work, The spare tire that goes on AMG cars have about as much clearance to the calipers as your pic, and that's how they designed it so you should be fine.
mine is probably 1mm or less. I can't even get a picture of it because it's so tight. Been like this for 2 years and 6k miles
edit: just looked at your picture and mine is a little tighter than that, so you're fine as long as you have quality wheels that won't flex. I have RPF1 18x9.5 +39mm w/20mm spacer in front
