good dd all season type tire

i have ran various kumho tires year round and a few years ago i had blizzaks just for winter which were great but i am looking for a fairly hard, longer lasting tire for stock wheel size GSR, i swear i can't get tires to last more then 8 months or so, maybe it is the brand etc. i do have a lot of windy back roads in my daily commute and commute about 12-15k a year on average. just looking for some input on something that will still grip decent but last longer, thanks in advance

I'm running 245/40/17 Continental ExtremeContact DWS and they're not bad. I commute the same as you and that's why I bought the all-seasons in the first place. They're OK in the snow, good in the wet, and fine in the dry. Sidewalls are a bit soft but you should expect that from an all-season tire

Would I buy them again? Yes

Will I buy them again? No, I'm going to try out summer/winter tires probably. I also have another car I'll be driving part-time so the evo will see only 60% of the miles per year it does now

would that size work for a stock evo 8 wheel i think oem size is 235 45 17? could i run a 245 wide on stock 8 wheels i have debated the contnential tires before. also i had the car alligned before these recent tires but pretty certain the guy messed it up because the insides of the fronts are very worn much more than anything else, does a normal allignment shop do that type of allignment i am thinking i am going ot need to go back and complain. no way it is just a pothole making both tires wear that bad

yes, i'm running stock wheels on my car still with that size tire.

Any alignment shop should be able to align the car properly; ask for a printout of the alignment as well

I have the Yokohama YK580 tires and love them. They handle great.

Well, considering it's an all-season tire and rated for 40-50k miles, 35k isn't a surprise at all

I've had good luck with Toyo Proxes 4 and the newer Proxes 4 Plus. Don't get a ton of snow, but Charleston floods with annoying regularity, and since southern highway departments don't like to stock salt the roads stay icy for awhile anytime it gets chilly. No complaints with either tire in either scenario.

If you want more winter bite, the Continental DWS has been a healthy choice for many EVO owners. On the light/moderate snow climate side, I'd look at B-Stone RE970 AS or Michelin's Pilot Sport AS-3. I have the Pilots and really like them.
