allignment off
allignment off
Well my evo got a flat and i took it to go get fixed ad they tell me that my allignment is completely off, so i take it to mitsubishi and there allignment machine is broken, so now i have an evo with tires wearing prematurely so i bought new tires, and my car is just sitting with the old bald ones on, its going to avondale mitsubishi tomorrow. dont get me wrong, i absolutly love my car but this constant maintnence is getting old. Sorry but i had to vent, i was going to get the car dropped this week but to find out my tires are bald to the core on just the inside on both front and rear, and having to fork out some major cash to get new tires. man i was really excited about dropping it, hopefully i can do both but i have to say DAMN this car is expensive to own. And has anyone had this problem.
im kicking myself in the ***... i went and bought new tires and an alignment at 6700miles because it killed the fronts.... basically i kinda accept responsibility though because the car was put in the ditch during some snow... but still i wish i would have known they would have covered it i could stand to have advans still....
I'm sorry, but I don't see your frustration. You should be fully aware that you bought a street-legal race car with race quality parts. If you think the parts cost too much, then you can get lower quality tires, brake pads, etc. Yes, it sucks that your allignment is off. It would be the same issue for any car. But to blame the whole cost of the Evo when you should be fully aware of it in the first place? Come on. You bought the wrong car then.

Ok, here's how it goes...
1) Mitsubishi (your dealership) MUST make sure that the car is "delivered" within Mitsu specs (toe and camber settings in this case). The toe on all Evo's seems to be for sh$% which causes tire wear that is not uniform - and not the fault of the tire.
2) Your dealership would rather have the tire manufacturer pay for a new tire than Mitsu fork out the money. So they tell you to call Yoko and try to get a new tire. If you read your Yoko warranty closely, they will not replace your tire (even if it is under 12K miles ) where premature wear is caused by improper alignment!!! So were back to Mitsu again.
3) There is no such thing as "tire life." It's not measureable where driver A can put "X" miles on the car before they require replacement and drive B can put "X+" miles on the car before a replacement is required. Nowhere does it state that the life of Yokohama tires is "Y." So when the dealer says that the wear is attributable to the "normal life" of a "performance" tire - that is another crock of sh#$. Also "wear" should be "uniform" across the entire surface area of the tire, not just on the inside or outside edge (depending on if your're toe in or out).
4) It is the improper delivery of your car (to in or out) that has caused the premature, ununiform wear on your tires. Therefore the dealer is responsible for replacement of the tires where they had a duty to inspect the car before delivery. Failure to do so makes them liable for replacement (at least in a pro-rated amount). This is the case if the "tire warranty" has expired (again because such damages is specifically excluded by the tire manufacturer in their warranty). Again, the tire you were given was "fine." It is the improper alignment which has caused it to go bad.
Don't let Mitsu push you around. They are the one's who are negligent and responsible for your premature tire wear.
I'm out.
