Evo 8 Autox wheel setup questions

I'm starting some research on best wheel set ups for AutoX and soon to be track racing. I will be on coilovers when I get these wheels and can roll fenders if necessary, but would prefer not to. Thanks!

I run 17x9.5 +35 with Dunlop Z2's 255/40r17. Rolled the rear fenders flat with a slight pull (happens when you use the eastwood fender roller) and they clear fine. This setup works well, and you can find light weight wheels in that size. However, my car was at the limit of traction with the HP in my sig. It was a bit of a handful, but definitely fun.

If you have a dedicated "race" wheel/tire that you switch out with, you can run a stickier tire like the nitto NT01 or Toyo R888. 255/40r17 is the widest tire you're going to get on the their without a decent amount of body work. I'll be running NT01's next season for more grip at the track, and I have a set of wheels/tires for daily use..

What ride height are you running? I test fitted a 275/40 on my car and their was no way it was gonna fit without extra camber. And my fenders are thoroughly rolled with a slight pull...

My rear camber is -1.6 for autoX/daily.

And ride height does matter because the suspension/tire gains camber as it travels up. So, with a higher ride height, it travels further before potential contact, which gives it more negative camber at that point. Follow?

And I can't see the rear fender gap in that pic. Car looks mean though. Is that a GTC-200 with risers? What did you do to the front to clear the fender liner and firewall at/near full steering angle?

What I meant is that ride height is not an issue w/my setup. Ive had enough rear fender work to fully clear. There is no fender gappage

Yes, thats the 200 w/risers. I broke the stock wing at the track. Front work is only a slight fender roll & the liners have had rub at lock positions but have burned through

Heres a pic I use w/the newbs in the fitment section to show what clearance is all about. These are my track wheels w/Nitto NT05's

BTW, Sorry to the OP if we have gone off topic
