spacer different sizing question

I need +15 spacers for my front, my question is do I have to run the same in the back or can I run a +5 or 10. If I run a smaller size does the affect the drive train, and also does running a smaller size create more oversteer.

Running front spacers for brake clearance w/no rear spacers has been done many, many times & is OK

The only time the drivetrain is affected is by running different circumference wheels in any of the wheel positions. That will surely affect the diffs in a negative way

If youre interested in knowing how spacers affect handling. read some of autox'ing posts in the motorsports section. Those guys run many diff types of spacer set-ups to promote rotation in corners

Thanks for the reply. The reason I asked about the handling is that I just did this using the +5 in the back and now it seems like the car is little more tail happy now. I went from the stock rims to the xxr 530 18x8.75 with a 235 40 18 tire. But yes I'll go check out the auto crossers input.

Im a little confused but are you saying you are running a 15mm spacer in the front and a 5mm in the rear? If so that spacer combo vs running no spacers at all would yield more oversteer.

However if you are just speculating that the addition of the 5mm spacer in the rear is causing more oversteer then that would be incorrect in that you would be taking away track width from the front relatively speaking.

Yes I have +15 on the front and +5 on the rear. Only reason I did this was to avoid having to get into rolling fenders in the rear. I just daily this car and don't take to the track, so not looking to change the handling characteristics.

After driving for a couple days and thinking about what was going on, the first thing to come to mind was the difference from the front to rear. So just looking for confirmation from you more experienced members on this matter.

OK well having a larger spacer on the front will indeed yield more oversteer. The different tire could also be contributing to this difference in feel. But to answer your other question and confirm the info you received from Minus running different size spacers is fine and will not kill your diffs so no sweat on that front. Good luck!
