I know the original form, for an unmounted tire, but was curious about the wear patterns talked about here.

My request was for pictures of the unusual wear patterns I thought someone was seeing with 245/40 Kumho MXs on stock rims. The strange wear patterns were on the stock tires though. I'd still like to see pics of the strange wear patterns if still possible.

No, the strange wear patterns were on my Advans with 6700 miles and 4 track days. I don't think any tread wear is all that weird after a track day! It was just odd that it was possible to wear a tread block not much on the left but worn on the right with the next tread block (width wise) the same way. (How did the right edge of row 2 wear down with out wearing the left edge of row one)
My Kuhmo's are brand spanking new.

I would guess the blocks spread into the the cutouts as they are squeezed over and compressed. The underlying belts may deform slightly, too. It is really wierd the first time you it, though. My Advans did that as well, and I've seen it on other hight performance tires.

I am currently a day or two away from purchasing 245/40/17's for my stock rims. If you have any more pictures are updates/reviews please update this post. (I did read the post about being careful when they are new)
