So maybe I'm just getting older (maybe wiser?) and I'm looking at the new Continental DWS06 all season tires. Yes, I know I'd be sacrificing dry grip, but I'd gain more tread life and year round use. Granted, I used my Hankook V12 year round, even if there was a little snow on the ground... On tire rack with the rebate, I'd be looking at less than $600 for the DWS06, thoughts?

I've always had a DWS on my cars in the winter and cold months and they are great all season tires...

That said, even great all seasons do not compare to good summer performance tires in good weather conditions. If you push the car very hard and can afford to buy tires now and again in the winter I would definitely do it but if not I think you would be happy with the new DWS. I can't wait to try them on my Evo when it cools down. My wife daily drives an SRT8 Charger and I keep the DWS on it year round and for the occasional spirited drive where you aren't concerned about being the absolute fastest in every turn they are great.

Why don't you run two sets? That's what I did as I got older and wiser.

i often run the Hankook V12 unless i get something else on sale. they really are a decent tire and i like the price.
if they had Nitto Neo Gens in my size, i'd try those again (i loved them on my Honda).
i currently have Nitto 555 because i wanted something with a bit of "performance". they work pretty well (i did a track day with them) and seem to be lasting foreeeeeeeeever.
i've used BFG KDW2, or whatever. they were noisy and didn't do any better than the others i tried.

not sure if any of that helps.

for a daily tire, i go cheap. i like to hoon from time to time. i have my track wheels with R-S3s when i need grip. i don't race around town, so high TW tires are where it's at for me.

He has a budget for tires....not sure there's enough in it for two sets of tires and another set of wheels.

Yea....$600 is a tough ask.

I'm at $2k for my two sets, 1150 for summer, 850 for winter. Plus wheels on top.

I don't think the OP needs two sets anyway. One cheap, durable summer set is what he's after.

I'm not knowledgeable on those kinds of tires.

Kaj is right, if I could afford another set of wheels and tires for both sets, I wouldn't be in this situation. I like the Hankook V12s I have, but don't love them, I'm sure there are better options now for the price. Keep throwing ideas to me guys, all good ideas, I'm still processing what I want.

I definitely don't have to be the fastest, if anything I just do a few 2nd-3rd gear pulls and a few "spirited" corners. I've heard the new DWS06 are an improvement from the old ones. Do you feel you get enough dry traction in the SRT8? I'd like to autocross in the future, I feel I would be let down by these tires. But for everyday driving they make sense.

Actually, not many choices. Hankook has some of the prices around. Good tires, to boot.

You don't need winter traction right?

We have a guy that auto xes on 300TW tires and kicks butt. It teaches you to be a really good driver. Just frustrating at first LOL.

The bridgestone RE760 or BFG sport comp 2 are superior to the Hankook Evo IMO. And about the same price.
