Recommend replacement street tire

Currently have about 20k on my 245/40/18 Hankook ventus v12 tires, been on about 4 years. I have some pretty good wear on the inside for some of the tires, so figured it'd be a good time to research a replacement. I'd like to stay under $600, or close to it. Currently looking at continental DW or BFG comp 2, which on special and with rebate through tire rack come to about $540. I like a mix of good grip but longer life, the Hankooks were fairly good at this. Might try auto x, so maybe more grip this time around, but not a priority. Good street driving manners are more important. Any preference over my 2 choices, or something different altogether?

Comp 2 is better than the DW.

I prefer the bridgestone re760 over both though.

If you're considering the R-S3, Bridgestone RE-71R and BFG Rival S are new tires out this year in the same category. And if you're in that category of tires, you don't want last year's tire.

Not really considering RS3s or similar tire due to their tread wear, don't think I'd get the same mileage out of them. For an extra set of wheels for auto x, I'd totally get them.

For DD with performance and tire life there really is only one choice.

Michelin PSS.

Michelin pss are almost $200 per tire, not within my budget. Def have heard great things about them though. Have not heard good things about nitto invo tires.

They're worth more than double any $100 tire. You drive an Evo, enjoy what it can do with the right tires.

But hey, to each, their own.

You Michelin PSS guys are so hardcore about those tires. BFG Gforce Comp2's and Bridgestone RE760's are every bit as good, at a much lower price. I can say that having driven on all 3. They don't come with the treadwear warranty like the Michelin, but it's pretty difficult to get manufacturers to honor that anyways (Michelin didn't honor it for me).

I had very good luck with the General AS03. Wrote a quick review here:

http://upshiftracing.com/product-reviews/.

I actually ran a couple track days on them even, although I wouldn't recommend it as auto-x or track days will probably tear up any all season tire pretty good.

i have run both the conti dw & now on the michelin pss. i also favor tire life vs qualifying laps to/from work.

The pss is my fav & better all around, but if funds are an issue, the dw is really good too, just softer turn in & ride with the dw. The dw last long as well.

i have an e8 on x wheels @ 255/40/18 fwiw.

GL
