NT01's are good. Maxxis RC-1's are starting to gain popularity as well, I've read several good reviews on them.

Semi slick in US is quite different
Usually it's either NT-01 or R888 and next jump up is Hoosier or BF Goodrich R1
They don't have much experience with A050 or Z221 or FZ-201 of which is what rest of the world use
Aka speak to your local racer instead

Never realized this. So are we more limited on tire options in the US?

I won't say more limited but the motorsport sanctioning body require use of different tyre
IE:
In SCCA or Nasa TT/W2W, the tyre of choice is Hankook Z214, Hoosier A7/R7 or BF Goodrich R1S
All of these belong to DOT slicks of which is used mostly in US
In Australia/Japan/Asian, the idea of semi slick is something like A050 or Z221 which is not relevant in US
Unless you run in Global Time Attack or Redline Time Attack limited class which require semi slick with threadwear rating of 60 or above
