Bilstein B6 HD Bump Stop Question

hi everyone,

I searched around and found mixed answers. I'm going to be swapping out the blown stock struts from my 2006 IX with B6's however Bilstein indicates stock bump stops are not reused as they are built into the B6's. Is this accurate or should I reinstall the stock bump stops.

thanks!

I've heard that too. That being said I would still install them. The OEM Bilstens are most likely made the same and they came with external bump stops. As long as it doesnt limit travel I dont see why you wouldnt use them.

Thanks for the reply, I'll play it safe and install the OEM bump stops.

Hi, I just saw your post and have a question (in 2021). Are you happy with the result, and did the B6 change your ride height? I just had my blown stock front struts replaced with the B6 on my Evo IX MR as well, and the front looks like it's ready to run the Dakar Rally. It's so high.

Can you post a photo? I'm surprised you didn't opt for the b8 bilstein.

I have Bilstein HD B6 on my '06 RS. The talk about Bump Stops got me thinking. Went and reread the instructions.

Clearly states that if the Bilstein Strut is supplied without dust boots the factory boot and bump stops should be reused.

I was concerned that I was runing dual bump stops. One internal and one external. I don't think that is happeing.

Need some advice please, I will be reusing my Swift lowering Springs from the OEM Bilstein. Since B8 are only available for rear (none available for the front), is it ok to use B6 front and B8 back? Or use B6 for front and back?

The shocks will live longer if used with the springs they are designed for. The B8's are designed with shorter bodies for lowering springs. B8's are available for front and rear. Not sure of the stock but they exist. Check Rockauto they have them. Also look at Bilstein B14 full coil overs with 40-50mm drop. Includes springs, full setup for $300 more than full set of B6's.
