Another Tannabe write-up!
Can you say LOSER?
With the help of a fellow Evom member (the STi guy blew us off--no show, no call), we installed the front springs only. We didn't have time for the rears. Therefore, we did not raise the rear, subsequently, the front springs didn't compress very much (yeah, after install I rolled it back and forth a bit), hence, when I attempted to park the car later, the springs were moving in the housings and then would let out a thud. The rubber boots wound up twisting and the springs weren't seated properly. Talk about a "rookie" mistake
I had to do it all over again. My 1-day project turned into a 2-day grudge match.
When I had the rears off I slapped on the Progress rear sway bar. The install was fairly straight forward. I suggest either removing the rear section of the exhaust or removing one of the rear hanger brackets (I removed the bracket). I chose Progress simply because it is grey--less noticeable--and because it is less expensive.
I didn't do camber plates because you can get - 2.0 degrees of camber (before the drop) by adjusting the bolt, moreover, lowering the car gives a smidge more negative camber, that is all the camber I will want. I will get the car aligned next week.
I have yet to really "drive" the car, but, I have to report that I'm impressed. The ride is noticeably stiffer--the dash is creaking a bit now, but less jiggly. On center feel feels more locked-down, steering effort has increased ever-so-slightly, something akin to turning on a motorcycle--there's a bit of resistance just before the steering wheel turns.
I will be at Road America April 17, w/ tsi90awd. I'll let you know.
