Heres an old FS thread regarding this wheel. The seller noted spacers were not required up front (scroll down a bit)

Heres another thread confirming no spacers

With this offset, for sure, you will need to roll the rear fenders & possibly relocate the rear bumper bolt, depending on tire width

Any other questions, let me know (BTW, That 45 series tire is very tall. 40 series is more common)

Yeah shouldn't be a problem, here is a link to Astro Train's TE37SL setup with the same size wheels:

run a 255/40.. a 245/45 is too thin and too tall of profile. Trust me on this... I have run anything from a 245 to a 275 and a 255 will give you the most room functionality. Also the tires aren't bank breakers. I would recommend Federal 255/40 if this is strictly a street set up. But really any brand is fairly affordable.

^^^Roger. Where you been? Hope all is well?

Curious what your thoughts are on running the Federals after breaking them in?

Yeah, fitting the aggressive tire & rubber is tough. Its an art form for sure. Astro Train can tell you exactly what he has done & if he has more to do to prevent rear fender rub

I can certainly tell you what Ive done to fit the following: 17x9.5 +30 w/275/40 rubber (there is serious rear fender work required)

If you want this look & performance below, you have to be willing to make the necessary modifications (that is Function > Form)

+22 is a real bear to fit. It can be done, but a narrower tire can be used & rear fender work is needed

No, that high offset is no good. How about this: 17x9 +35 5zigen FN01R-C (rear fender roll required. No pulling or bumper bolt relocation needed)

I was focusing on the super laps
I can probably get away with the TE37 saga in diamond graphite which looks like black
17x8+38
Just wish they where completely black . I wanted the black edition 2 but only comes in 18" don't want that big Lol

Hey Joe! Cannot say enough good things about them.. they are surprisingly quiet and pretty sticky. A great street tire. I been busy working so having been on here for a while.

ok back up for a minute. First thing.. what suspension are you going to run in the end? Are you on coils or springs.. and if so which spring.

MinusPrevious favors on the side of caution as in full suspension travel. With that being said, don't "settle" for a thinner wheel for a couple of reasons. One they will not look as good as a slightly more aggressive set up. Two, with Volks its ok to go a bit wider on rim size because of how light weight they are.

As for the the 17x8 +38, it does not clear the calipers according to Rays chart. So toss them out as an option.

What I suggest you do... first tell us what suspension you are gonna end up with on the car with this wheel set up... and how low do you want to drop the car.

Once you decide this.. I suggest you stick with the original set up you mentioned.. 17x9.5 +28. Here is why.. a 9.5 and 9 inch rim carry a total difference of 12 mm width difference. You have to divide this number by half because half goes to the inboard side of the wheel and the other half goes to the outboard side if you measure this FROM the center of the wheel. So what this means is a 17x9 +22 is technically 6 mm thinner on each side then the 9.5 inch +28. So you get more "MEAT AND WHEEL" under the fender on the 9.5 than the 9. Because you are just pushing the wheel further out on the thinner 9 inch rim in a +22 offset.

Unless you are trying to dump the car.. and I am mean lower than what you see mine in the previous pictures posted above... then get the 17x9.5 +28 and run a 255/40/17. I guarantee you will only have to roll the rears at best with no more than -2 camber all around... and you do not have to relocate the rear bumper bolt. I did not have to do this and I am running a tire that measures out to a 275/40. That is 20 mm wider than what I am suggesting you get. You will be fine. My car only rubs on the fronts at full lock on the inner fender liner and that is because this tire is SOOOO F***** wide... I could easily run a 17x10 and would still be square.

The end result if you follow my advice... your car will look far better than with a higher offset set up like a 17x8 +38. That is essentially a stock wheel. You may as well keep the stockers on and save yourself the money.

I will send you a PM on a vendor I used.. he got me a set for a great price. Brand new. If you want the all black ones get the Double Pressed black versions.

One last thing... I would avoid the Saga variant of the TEs.. it is not the same wheel. Rays changed the lips and spoke design of the wheel. The SL still use the older moldings of the original TE37. I have researched this with friends that I know that own difference sizes of the SLs compared to OG TE37s. I have seen one set of the face 4 Sagas and they cave in more, but they have lost the lip size the SL still have. The SL is the better looking of the two wheels. Good luck and what you decide.
