Shredding tires

I need expert opinions. I saw my tires worn out again after I heard something weird.

Alignment is still good (-2 camber, 0 toe, stock caster)
coil over is refresh rebuilt by Ohlins so it’s good as new
whitline tie rods and RC correction kit is good
control arm front bushing is new

Heres the background. Two years ago, my RS-3 was shredded like this and front only. So I was obligated to buy a new set and I bought the RE71-R. After 10 months, it was shredded like this. I thought it was alignment so I have it checked and realigned. I changed every bushing and tie rods except the rear bushing of the front control arm. So after that. I bought this set, Hankook RS-4 last year. I was driving today and I heard a weird sound and I see the front tire again like this like the other 2 previous tires before it.

What at do you guys think what’s causing it? It’s only the front. I know it’s not the wheel because if I swap the front the rear, it does the same thing.

Sounds like something is cutting the tire. Your LCA is past parallel aka your car is quite low which makes that assumption even stronger. As everyone else has said, is this happening to the other side as well?

That's not a cut. It's belt edge separation. You can see the cup in the edge of the tread. Also, the tire looks like its about worn out anyways. Probably not even an issue with alignment or anything with car. Just standard issues tires tend to start having toward the end of life.

I suppose if it were a cut it would go around the entire perimeter of the tire...but on that same note yeah the tire is worn but I'd think you'd also see that its corded around the entire perimeter as well and then becomes separated like that.

Yah I agree with LTGD, if it was gouging you would expect to see it worse on a new tire, not just appearing at the end of life. OP if you want your tires to last longer you can dial out some camber. If middle/outside of the tire still has a lot of life left then you probably have too much negative camber for your use case.

No, this is what happens with "medium" quality tires when they age/wear out. They get a belt edge sep. Quality tires will generally cord and be fine, like Michelins on Bstones.

Age is a good question that is not discussed often

What is the date code on these tires?

Maybe they have vulcanized / hardened to a point of failure?

That's not due to age related hardening of the rubber parts of the tire. Its a belt edge separation. It happens. By new tires and move on.
