Random pulling side to side.

Evo 8 here. So I have random pulling that I can’t seem to figure out. It can get pretty scary of the freeway if your not holding on. One minute it pulls hard to the right, next it can drive perfectly fine then it can pull to the left. No specific order in all of this. All my toe and camber seems to be in spec. Tires at proper pressure. I mean sometimes it will pull super hard. I have 2 sets of wheels and they both do the same thing. Doesn’t seem to be any slop in the wheel at all. It’s actually extremely sensitive. Also about 75/80 the steering wheel has a good viberation. Any thoughts?

This sounds a lot like blown control arm bushings, bad inner tie rods, or a diff that failed in a strange way. I would stop driving the car and get it up on jack stands ASAP. There is definitely slop somewhere.

I plan on it within a couple days. Just wondering what to look for. Had a similar problem with another car. Never did figure it out. I’m thinking it’s inner tie rods. Not sure though.

I have a right rear lower control arm that’s bent pretty good I forgot about. We will see what that does when I get it fixed. Thinking about having my tires re balanced. Looks like I’m missing some weight on one. All bushings looked good

Sometimes its just the tires. Driving summer ultra-performance tires that are very stiff on grooved asphalt causes part of the tread to not make contact with the road.

rear toe out can make the car really unstable.

I would def get the bent control arm replaced, redo the alignment after that, and get the tires balanced. Then go from there.

Ok so they think the rack is causing the intermittent pulling. Thinking about replacing that before they align everything.

The steering rack isn't cheap. They better upgrade that "think" to a "sure" before you dump that kind of money.

Yea that’s what I was was thinking. He said when it pulls to the right he can jerk it to the left then it will drive straight. That’s why he thought it was the rack. But still I want more evidence that’s the issue.

Doesn’t pull under acceleration. Only while cruising.
