Staggered offset Rays Volk Te37

Hey guys, after days going through thread after thread looking for info I Decided to place a order for x2 18x9.5 ET22 and x2 18x9.5 ET38. I have 255/35/18 tyres to go on them so Im hoping they will fit. My rear arches are rolled and ready but my question is should I of ordered 18X9.5 ET30 for the rear or will ET38 be ok? Thanks

Hi Dave

What EvO do you own? The +38 will certainly help & may not require you to do a rear fender pull so in that regard, the +38 is a win

Cheers, Joe

I have JDM MR Evo 8, I have been looking at all types of fitment for the TE37 SL TE37 SAGA and CE28n. I really like the white RS 9 on here, The members name is FIGHTEX I believe. He ran 17x9 et15 te37 and 18x9.5 ET15 Ce28n. some cars on here look great with that fitment and some look like it has way too much rear poke. This member had it spot on IMHO so im trying to get a almost flush look but with a wider lower offset.

If you decide on going w/the 18X9.5 ET30 you can figure on doing more that just the rear roll. Running a 9.5" in a +30 running a 265 or 275/35 you will need a bit of a rear pull & likely a bumper bolt relocation

Are you willing do that level of rear fender work for the proper clearance?

i will be running 255/35/18 tyres, the rear fenders are sorted with the bump bolt and they are rolled. How much they need to be pulled is the million dollar question

To determine the true fit, remove a rear strut & disconnect the sway bar link. Push the rear wheel up into the well & determine the clearance needed

thank you for this information, I have ordered TE37 Saga 18x9.5 ET30 I’m guessing I will loose some of the concave face compared to the ET22 face but I decided I wanted a bit more room to try and retain handling, this was my thought process. Please tell me if I’m talking trash, I assumed that I would have more room in a ET30 than a ET22.

@JDM_Dave

Yes, the +30 is a much better choice for a true performance fit. The +22 is certainly nice looking but is more of a show wheel

The +30 obviously allows 8mm more outer fender fit & will be easier on those rear fenders

I am hoping just to be able to get away with a rear fender roll. do you think this would be ok, or would you think I could get away with no roll?

Shouldve asked this before you ordered a $3500 set of wheels.

You could've easily gotten all four wheel in +38 offset and then ran a 10 or 15mm front spacer. Then you could've also rotated your tires.

The +38 fits well in the rear with just a fender roll.

yes I could of done that but most people run +22 offset so I figured +30 would be a better fit. Running spacers isn’t a thing I would want to do Over 5mm. You haven’t really helped with my question regarding The rear arches with a +30 offset you have just stated the obvious which I all ready knew.

Running a 9.5" in a +30 running w/a 255 or greater tire width, a rear roll is a must. No way it works w/out a rear roll at the min. Lets say you settle on a 9.5" +30 running a 265/35 tire. Figure on doing the following:
  • Rear roll (not a full flat roll but at least a 3/4 lip roll)
  • A slight rear fender pull in the rear 1/4 panel area as noted in my photo
  • Bumper bolt relocation

thank you, I’ll Be running a 255/35 tyre, rolling the arches won’t be a issue for me. Will the bumper bolt need moving with a 255 tyre also?

W/the 255 you may not need the bumper bolt relocated, but as i noted above, the best way is to remove the rear strut & disconnect the sway bar & move the wheel into the arch to check the clearance. Doing that procedure only takes 30 minutes or so & will tell you where you stand

great information, thank you. Will give it a go when the wheels arrive. I have a bit more confidence in my choice of size. Ha
