Question Which Coilovers for Evo 9

Hi All,

Hoping someone can help me to decide. I have an Evo 9 with Bilstein B14 Coilovers that have been on the car for around 6 years and just find them to be really stiff. I have tried to find what the KG spring rate are on these but I can't find anywhere.

My question is, what would you recomend for a daily driven Evo? the streets I drive are full of potwholes and very bad roads.

My main concern at the moment is comfort as it will be driven daily and I have no other choice at the moment.

I have 18inch 9.5J wheels so going back to standars suspensions is not really an option for me, as I beleive the wheels would not fit with the standard suspensions.

My budget is around the £1000 range give or take.

Can anyone please give me some honest recomendation to see if I can make my mind up?

Thank you in advance guys!

Batmovil

@batmovil For approx 1000 quid looks like you could get a set of Fortune Auto 500's but they will have to be shipped from the U.S

A lot of us run the Fortune Auto's on our EvO's

See here: https://fortunecoilovers.com/product...12599565123638

Cheers,

Thanks for your response, I will have a look.

Anyone else have any recomendations please?

I have also been looking at the Meister Zeta CRD any good? Don't think many evos have this setup.

Thanks

With the Fortune Autos they will build the shock how you like it. Valve it and spring it w/how you drive the car. But, i understand, being in Europe there are likely other choices out there that might work just as well for you!

On my particular setup they recommended the FA510's & valved it accordingly for the Swift 10K/12K springs

I would just go with Ohlins. The price point is competitive and they have great ride quality. Also if you increase the tire profile then the suspension will be able to absorb the bumps better.

Never understood the standard O's offering w/their lop sided spring rates & no valving customization. You need Performance Shock in California to do the custom work but this Gent is in Europe.

The only O's i would be interested in are the TTX series

i've ordered directly from ohlins revalved from the factory, at not much of a price premium. went with 8/11, though i am up to 8/13 at the moment lol

You did it the right way!

Ive been on their website & there are no on-line options for any spring make or rate change. They dont even note what the rates are. I guess you have to call the order in & get some personal help?
Heres their details: https://www.ohlinsusa.com/parts/2001...del=evo-vii-ix

yea i called and spoke to them.

also, for u dd'ers - spray ur locking rings with a little wd40 so they dont seize together, and also wrap your threads with painters tape it's not pretty but it keeps them clean (later i even measured and wrapped the top area above the seat

I have been spraying the threads and locking rings but never thought of the painter's tape. Great idea.
