I want to replace the front and rear bushings of the rear differential on my Evo 4.My question is: do I need to completely remove the differential and disconnect the AYC lines and both axles, or can I just loosen the eight bolts that hold the rear subframe to the chassis, disconnect the driveshaft, and lower the diff slightly to remove the mustache bar and differential support member? Is there anything else I need to loosen or remove?
I've been looking for an answer to this forever. According to some folks on the other Evo forum, you need to drop the subframe to remove the rear ("mustache") support. I've never found a guide for this job specifically but here's a guide for removing the 4/5/6 differential:
