For the purposes of what I’m doing to my car, I will not be running a rear differential My Build Link. I may need to either modify the rear subframe or perhaps replace it with a tubular one.
Does the rear subframe play a role in the rigidity of the chassis ?
Looking at the rear subframe, it seems like i might be able to just cut out the section in the yellow box and leave the end pieces ? I all I need it to do is hold the sway bar and wheels.
There are only two bolts in the center area that bolt it to the bottom of the wheel well. Perhaps its main purpose is just for support of the mustache bar and rear diff ?
If it does play some role in the chassis rigidity, will the below subframe design with the areas marked in yellow lines removed work? Does the left over tubing design/angle wise look like it will support the chassis rigidity like oem or better?
