EBC pads good or bad?
EBC pads good or bad?
I went to ebc brakes and there is a kit for my lancer Evo 7 = Evo 8 the part number is: DP31210
1- Is EBC a good brake pad?
2- When I ask for that part number Do I have to specify green or red stuff? if yes...
3- Which should I buy, green or red?
Obs: street/road driving with some 140mph road speeds

When we tested the EBC Green, Hawk HPS, and Satisfied pads I felt like the EBC's were the softer of the bunch. Push the pedal down on them and it really felt soft. Push on the Hawks and it was a lot firmer. Despite the feel, the EBC's are a good pad to use, but I have Hawks on my cars now.
They are identified by Greenstuff or Redstuff. The Greens are a performance street based pad that works well off the track for every day use. The Reds are more of a track day compound that can also be used on the street. Their a bit more aggressive and demand higher heat for bite.

I agree with Neal's comment - the pedal goes very mushy compared to Porterfields - it's as if the pads are not perfectly flat. I've been using Greens on my AEM big-rotor'd 98 AWD, and whilst they work very nicely indeed, the pedal has always been mushy, no matter what I've done to fix it. 3 weekends ago I swapped over to Porterfield R4S and the pedal went rock-hard. Unfortunately there was a problem with the R4S and I had to switch back to the the Greens - instantly back to a mushy pedal.
I used Reds on my autocross car a couple of years ago and could not get them up to temperature, so sometimes I had brakes, sometimes not. I wouldn't use Reds outside of high(er) speed competition for that reason.

ok... so they're mushy compared to the race pads.. but in comparison to the stock pads how are they?..
i need a replacement quickly for my daily driven EVO8.. i got almost 25k out of the stock pads.. in other words i don't track much.. but like a good pad in case i do wanna go..
would greens be a good pad as a replacement for the OEM pads? also they're much cheaper @ under $100 for the fronts compared to over $200 ($249 msrp) for the OEM's...
thanks for your help!
also, any vendor who has them in stock, please contact me immediately.. as i need them right now!
