Thumbs up Performance Friction Pads

Hey,

So i just got back from my 3 day event at Watkins Glen and all i can say is i love my car. This thing just eats other cars alive. Its so easy to drive at the limit and is doing everything amazingly right now. So, after a fresh rotor cut and a new set of Performance Friction 97 compound pads, all i can say is i have solved my brake problems. They were very strong, never faded once, and did not cause any of the crappy pad transfer/horrible shake that many of us are expieriencing. These pads were semi-expensive but they are worth every cent. I didn't even ware a quarter of the front pads off after eight 1/2 hour track sessions. That sounds like a good deal to me. Before i had these i was using carbotech panther+'s and they did not meet my expectations whatsoever. These new pads far exceded my expectations. I got them from stoptech (the guys that make the brake kits) for a pretty good price. If you have any questions, ask away.

Later,
EvoMike

How are the rotors holding up to the PFC97's? We pretty much destroyed a the front rotors on an E36 M3 with Compound 90's at Sebring.

The 97's are designed to be "rotor friendy"

That they are.... hey robi, when you use these pads, were they quiet when heated up or did they squeal at all?

They can squeal before getting to temp and they LIKE hard short (on the anti-locks) braking better than "finesing"(sp) the braking zone

Just curious, where did you all get your PF97 from?

Like EvoMike03 I just recently ordered mine from Stoptech. In fact I should get them today in time for a track event this weekend. I think Stoptech is selling them for $242/set. Oh, the application listed on my invoice from Stoptech lists the WRX STi and not the Evo. The pads & rotor thickness are the same I guess.

I have to switch from Panther plus soon, the noise is driving me insane. John at RRE told me their working on some porterfield pads that don't squeak like crazy and work well. So, I'll probably add those, although these look nice (and expensive).

I have to say, the Performance Friction 97s kick ***. I just got back from a day at Summit Point. The PF 97s are amazing. They've got some serious initial bite and great fade resistance. I think I've solved my brake issues too.

Oh the Evo does eat nearly everything else on the track alive, even some of the trailer queens. There was a guy in my run group driving an '04 E55. He was amazed that he couldn't walk me on the straights, even up to 135 mph. I certainly dogged him in the corners. Great fun!

Fast time of the Day @ Speed Ventures track day Willow Springs Big track (1:33.509) My PF 97 shod Buschur stage V sure suprized alot of Vettes, Vipers and supras today (BTW this is a HP track known as the "fastest road in the west" with over 1/2 of the lap spent in 4th& 5th and also well over 100MPH) Damn the Buddy Club Coilover Setup by John @RRE is starting to come together and produce results equal (or at least VERY close) to the JIC's I used to run
