from what I hear is that CUSCO roll cages are NOT SCCA approved. Cusco cages aparently are bolt-on, and SCCA requires a roll cage to be welded. You can always weld the Cusco cage in, but I do know Autopower is a safe bet to go with. Cusco is definately JDM BLING, but not sure about the safety issues... I wouldn't chance it. Was planning on Cusco 6point, but probably going custom or Autopower.

SCCA can accept bolt in as well - depends what class. Most Autopower ones that people get are the bolt in, not the U-Weld Style. We have plenty of WRX customers running various SCCA, SCDA, etc events with the Autopower cage

Chromoly is NOT approved by most USA sanctioned racing organizations.. the tubing walls are thin and the cage is built for right hand drive.....

I had a Cusco cage on my old 240 and the cage looked purty but was totally useless, it didnt add any rigidness and actually made the car less safe to drive in. So I took it out.

It is pretty but that is about it. If you want roll cage for protection and added structure go with autopower, although it is heavy... but there is no way around that.
Chromoly is legal in most racing, if not all. The rulebooks have different requirements for each type of steel. On the most part Chromoly cages can be thinner and lighter because of the increased strength over the steel often used in cages. Look in a SCCA or NASA rulebook for more info.
