Cobb AP EVO X reflash: My dyno sheet

I had the chance to test out the NEW AP for the EVO X.

The results speak for themselves. The RED FILE IS BONE stock. The Blue File is with the COBB Off the shelf stage 1 93 octane map. In a few days I will be remapping the car with a custom re flash.
53whp PEAK from the re flash and 30ftlbs Peak, but the gains after 5000rpms were huge and the car feels AWESOME on the street. The boost over 5k is flattened out and the AFR is up in the 11.0-10.8 range.

Not bad gains considering nothing is done to the car. I can imagine another 10-15whp will be picked up after optimizing the timing and afr for 93. Base maps always come overly safe.

Not bad. 50whp seems to be about what these cars pick up from reflashes.

For a basic stage 1 reflash, its awesome. Once some car specific tuning comes into play, it will only get better. I was really impressed with the base map. As I said, I will be retuning the car shortly with all the STOCK parts. Then a modded one will be tested.

You wont void warranty either. You can un-install the flash and leave no trace behind in the ecu. It also comes with a built in code reader, ecu reset, HP calculator,0-60 time,1/4mile etc.. Lots of cool features, and you can just order Maps from your favorite tuner through email and load them right into the AP.

Great product for the EVO X

Im curious as to 1 thing:
If you already have some mods, say an exhaust and an intake, how will the COBB recognize that in the off-the-shelf maps?

How does that work? Sorry, newbie to Cobb here.

You get a custom reflash. More base files will be available shorty anyway.

I have 0 idea when it comes to tuning. The custom maps will come from COBB, or do you have to go to a COBB tuner for him to make it for you? I want to be as safe as possible obviously.

Any short explanation will do, sorry for the newbishness

There will be maps you can download from COBB that are designed specifically for certain mods.

Cobb generally provides a few free generic maps. Right now, only the stage 1 map is available, which is a completely stock map. Later, a stage 2 map will be available, which is usually a map for a turboback exhaust and intake. Beyond this, you need to go to a Cobb certified tuner to get a custom map done for you. One of the nice things with the AP is that you could have several maps (including several custom tunes) for different conditions. Keep it safe and sound on the road with one map; switch to another map for race fuel when at the track. It is quite a nice little device - my friend has one for his STI and it is pretty boss. He has a stage 2 map, a custom map with everything except for his methanol setup, and then a methanol map. Plus, you can put it in valet mode or lockdown mode. Valet mode doesn't allow the rpm to exceed 3k. Lockdown mode won't allow the car to start (makes it rather difficult for people to steal your car).

From what I had been reading, dealers will still be able to tell the ecu had been flashed, is this true?

You can never be sure, its a risk that you will have to take for the extra power. Besides, we don't really have a warranty anyways now do we?
