All depends on the dyno. My dyno run was on a Mustang AWD at Buschur Racing and stock Evo X GSR put out around 224 whp, and if I remember correctly the Evo IX MR is around 220whp (?) Someone correct me.

Thanks for the overlay. The X is running extremely rich compared to the IX.

seeing them side by side wow . runs 4.7 afr at around 4k rpm no wonder with just a tune you see such drastic improvements. Thanks for the graphs GST.

Where do you see a 4.7 afr? The graph doesn't even read that low.

So why would Mitsu put out the X so differently from the IX? You know that they've seen the difference.

GST, that graph doesn't make sense. On most dynos, the 9 and X read almost identical in terms of peak power, with slight differences in the area under and after the curve. Also, unless I am mistaken, 9s don't run that lean from the factory. Granted, they don't run as rich as the Xs, but they are usually richer than that. Are you sure that 9 is stock?

Here is the AFR and boost on my Evo 9 when it was stock. These are multiple third gear logs with load on one axis and rpm on the other. The read cells are single data points and blue cells are multiple data points.

Here is the boost. It peaks higher than what GST has posted, but tapers the same to redline

I know very VERY little about tuning... but can someone please tell me why Mitsubishi would make a car run so rich right off the line? They had to know that people would have nothing but complaints when they came out with a car that was heavier and only had a 5 hp increase. Had they tuned it better from the factory and had the car come with 320-330 hp there would have been much better reviews about it. Not to mention that leaning it out a bit would have likely been able to show better mileage as well. I really don't know what car companies are thinking sometimes.
