I wish we would have base lined mine when i went down to see Todd. I bet he got at least 80whp (the wtq is f'n insain) from a catback, UICP and a drop in. +1 to a great tuner.

Thanks, Sir! We need to install the boost pill on your car still.

There's more in it still. Dom2 turbo seems to be the best turbo upgrade at this time - best bang for the buck even if it's still internally gated. Plus they're readily available unlike the Red.

I bought my dominator turbo from Buschur Racing but i would have bought it from tmarcel if he had been set up with blouch at the time.

hrmmm - nice numbers.

but the Dom2 is a bit of a lag monster You basically lost 1000rpm of power

He didn't exaclty loose 1000rpm of power. What he lost from 3.5k to 4.5k he gained from 7k to 8k. He did lose 1000rpm of spool though.

Just for comparison, David Buschur Dom2 car was able to produce 280lb.ft of torque at 3500rpm and 320 at 4000rpm, as compared to 200lb.ft and 250lb.ft respectively in the OP. DB's car is also running cosworth cams and no meth, plus full I/C piping and race core FMIC. Interestingly though, his car spooled better with the addition of the cosworth cams! I wonder if this will happen with this car too.

Congrats on the results

tephra,

I wouldn't exactly call it laggy - guess it's all relative. It sure doesn't fell that way on the road. at least.

EE,

That is correct! The car feels transformed with the new redline

I think what the cams do is allow the engine to breathe better at low RPM as well as the top end. Part of the restriction of more torque and HP at lower RPM's is that the larger compressor wheels tend to operate right at the surge line when spooling up on our engines and that basically holds you back unless you can get the engine to accept more volume of air to allow it to continue to build boost.

I think the FP Red, Dom2 and in extreme cases the GT30 bolt on's can have surge at lower RPM's when going WOT. Usually this surfaces in 5th gear but could happen in 4th if it is really trying to spool too fast with lots of volume. Cams let the engine breathe more and would allow it to pump more air at lower RPM's, as would a well designed intake manifold or proper headwork. High altitudes will make surge worse as would using an even larger compressor wheel.

Aren't you nervous about going to 8K on stock valvetrain? I rev to 7500 here and there on my FP Red and I am nervous even w/ that...

Damn, I may have to make a trip up. That was positively incredible.

turbo06evo, I'd love to get a ride sometime since I have been thinking about a dom2 to myself.
