Indeed. Even at altitude, 18% is way to much to correct something. At that point its just a number. As long as its always that way and the person can compare to their old setups thats all that matters but for posting sake, too much.

Solid setup regardless.

Thanks guys! I can really feel the torque in the car, huge difference. And I thought everyone i knew would hate the two huge fart cans exhaust, but turn out they love it, so while i want to go stealth, i might keep the farts can for fun for a while...

Tobz is looking into a exhaust that looks totally stock but is high flow, so if that puts out a lot of power, then maybe i will switch, dunno.

Yeah the car drives great, absolutely no knock after a week of abuse, and hopefully HPR this friday...

It's true, you can feel the difference in altitude, and while we all claim its about 18~20% loss up here, all cars suffer from whatever loss it is.

Perhaps if i get the chance i will get my quarter mile for my car here, and then when i drive out to one of the lower states i can drag it again to see the change.

Maybe there is someone else out there that has already done this?

The dyno is setup on weather correction all the time. I never have changed anything.
18% is about average.

Glad your like it. I love the 10's

Hey everybody, not trying to hi-jack the thread but just wanted to give an update on my car. Turns out it was a faulty injector. Replaced the injector in cylinder 4 and the car is running amazing again with no problems at all. Also, I want to clarify that Tobz was awesome throughout the entire process of getting my car fixed and his tune is bad ***. Unfortunately this is yet another faulty injector from DW. Anyway, have a blast with your car and tear up the track!

Glad to hear it man! Sounds like they need better QC at DW, maybe anyway...

I am signed up for Sunday all day with the Porsche Club of America :P

Gonna school some hopped up vw beetles

So the questions is - is it better to read racing journals for how to race or to play lots of gran tourismo 5 license tests? :P

Actually in Denver we are proven to lose 18~20% hp

here is a basic calc and from there you can link to the explanations...

http://wahiduddin.net/calc/calc_hp_dp.htm

Elevation (ft) = 5280
Air Temperature (f) = 86 today...
Altimeter (merc) = 29.9
dew point (f) = 41 today...
____________________
Relative Horsepower = 80.1%

So it's quite possible that Tobz has his correction too low... not that it matters or that we would have any way to make it 100% perfect every day/every tune....

Perhaps you are, but any "dyno calculation" via a correction factor like SAE for instance all say the most it can correct for weather is like 5-6% or something.

Not worth getting into man, just enjoy the car

No it's ok, i am just learning about all this so its still new.

I just noticed that you guys were talking about weather correction, which is for day to day temp and dew point, not altitude (right?)

It's all really a part of the same thing, just a correction factor.

If you want a better number that is technically correct you'd have to go to sea level and get it dynoed. Many people won't do that though, just don't be surprised when people give ya crap lol as its not really "the right way" to adjust your numbers by that much.

So if i took my car to the drag strip and got a time, would that help at all, even if that too was at high alt?

Sure it would, but its just another number and will back up the lower numbers that people want to see because its at high alt. Remember the strip has tons of factors built in too, like driving ability.

Anyway, don't worry about it dude, just drive the car and enjoy your new power!
