'08 GSR AMS Tune, full bult-ons

Had a GS 3-port EBCS installed and then custom tuned by AMS a few months ago. The car has full bult-ons on the stock turbo, complete mod list further down.

Note that if you want before and after graphs from AMS you need to be way more in their face about wanting that. Or they will install the 3-port before it's on the dyno and then you get no comparison.

I was on a stage 2 ots map before the tune. Butt dyno tells me the custom tune was good for maybe 10-15 horsepower over the ots AP map. Not huge gains, but could feel a slight difference.

The biggest advantage to me though is having a tune I trust and know is custom for the car. I stressed to them that I track the car and I didn't want the most aggressive tune, and I feel that's what they did so I'm happy.

The tuning process itself was very short and I felt very disconnected, but I trust AMS and the car hasn't had any problems and has run great ever since.

The graphs:
Numbers: 358whp/350wtq

I took it and put it on Boomba's Mustang Dyno the next day (weather and humidity were identical):
Numbers: 320whp/325wtq

The one concern I have is that AMS's dynojet recorded a peak boost of just over 24psi, while Boomba's mustang recorded a peak boost all the way up at 26psi. I'm going to have to keep an eye on boost pressures, 26 is higher then I desire.

Performance Mods
-AMS CAI
-AMS UICP & LICP
-AMS FMIC
-AMS downpipe
-Specialty X Exhaust
-Specialty X Resonated Test Pipe
-Grimmspeed 3-port EBCS

The mustang dyno probably did a better job of simulating load as it would occur in normal driving. That would account for the variance.

Yeah, that's why I'm going to monitor real closely as I drive it. Especially with the temps falling now.

It's the Varis/Runduce collaboration bumper. I'm pretty certain that all the Varis bumpers are exactly the same (even the one on the widebody) and they just come with different lips. '09 version is the mostly flat one, Runduce has that curve in it which I (obviously) LOVE, and the widebody just gets a wider lip and wider canards.

Very happy. I appreciate all you guys have done for the evo community and import scene in general. You guys have helped me out a lot and I expect I'll be dealing with you more.

I don't :/. It's nothing fancy or special though. I'll get some pics when I get back from this work assignment in a few weeks.

The best part of going to AMS is walking around and staring at all the other nice cars parked all over the place. Definitely makes waiting on things not feel like waiting. I could spend a whole day there just checking out the vehicles they have on the lot.

Figured I'd post this as well for those curious:

First time I had the car on the Dyno ever. The same Boomba Mustang dyno. This is with an AMS downpipe and an AP stage 1 OTS tune:

So from full bolt-ons and a custom tune, I gained 40whp and 60wtq. I bet most of that is from the boost pressure being raised 5psi. So anyone curious what bolt-ons get you: they get you a more responsive curve with earlier spool, most the power comes from the tune.

So you were right. Finally got to drive her over the weekend and boost did hit 25.8 and 25.9 on separate pulls.

Oh well, I've been driving for years peaking at around 25-25.5psi. Doubt an extra .4 psi will make a difference, I hope

Moral of the story, if you want to get dyno tuned, insist it be done on a mustang dyno as a dynojet evidently doesn't give you very good real world simulation.
