Finally got my MHI installed..

So I finally got my MHI installed and wow what a difference! Boost holds all the way to 26psi! She's making 375hp on e85 on a mustang dyno. Still waiting on the printout from the dyno run. I got some questions though..

1) my tuner tried to keep it conservative on a stock bottom, but I think it can make more power. My last dyno from a different tuner also made 375 but at 29psi. Why the same hp with slightly bigger turbo? I told my tuner I'm looking for at least 400hp., do able?

2) I have an QTP exhaust cutout and when it's open half way I can hear the turbo whistle like a supercharger and it's actually nice! But is it normal? Didn't hear the whistle on the stock turbo.

3) I'm getting a lot of backfire from the tail end. I've had it before and don't really think nothing Of it but now with downpipe+test pipe I'm staring to hear it more. Is it bad for the engine/turbo on the long run?

1, more power may be available. But it's hard to say what the car actually made because it a mustang dyno.

2 and 3 are normal.

Was your last tune on a mustang dyno also? I know most full bolt on e85 gsr make about 350s on a real mustang dyno? The MHI is a great turbo and u might be able to get more out of it running it at 28psi tapering to 22 all depends on ur tuner tho!

Yeah I told my tuner I want to get as close to 400hp as possible. He was probably worried about the car have 70k miles on a stock clutch.

Just talk to your tuner and see what he feels is best! A friend of mine is doing 400 on a stock clutch at 80k now but he never launches it and is running 1D1300 with a Wally 450 which is what really allowed him to get their .

Make a plan first for what your goals are for the car and then decide what parts you need and go from their. Skip cobb and get a tactrix cable, much better and also look into a turbo kit if you have big hp plans and save some money instead of buying parts twice

what other parts dop you have did you only get the turbo and that other part you talked about.. pelase make a fine list so we can determine and mustang dyno run lower so numbers dont really matter tbh because nwo you are at a lower psi which is safer unless you wanna blow up

I would talk to the tuner about current setup and see what other mods he recommend to reach close to HP goals

I have an MHI with supporting mods on E85 and made 414 hp/355 tq on a mustang dyno w stock block at 30 psi. Search my posts and you can find the dyno sheet. Kept the torque down for longevity sake, but I only put 1-2k miles on it a year.
